Boss suggested title change

Currently an investment associate working on the GP side. I predominately underwrite developments, but will assist our acquisitions team quite a bit as well. My boss has asked if I would like to change my title from Investment Associate to Development Associate. Seeing as that I want to work on the dev side moving forward I see this as a good thing. Any pros/cons to this would be appreciated.

Depends on what you want to do longer term - I feel investment associate is broad enough to not limit your exit oops, while development associate might somewhat pigeonhole you in the eyes of recruiters

End of the day, doesn’t matter for day to day I don’t think. Unless boss plans on throwing more work at you with no comp increase

Titles are so arbitrary in real estate. Just as an example, I'm about to move jobs from a family office to a large institutional shop, it's a lateral move in terms of job responsibility (the big change is geography), but my title is going from VP Development to Senior Associate. Maybe someone down the line will misinterpret that and think I took a step down, but I'm not sweating it. My actual job experience is growing and any future employer who is worth a damn will look past a title and see what I'm actually capable of doing.
