Buying a home with equity.

My home has about 250k in equity. I’m considering buying a home with that equity but I’m concerned about the timing of the sale of my home and the purchase of the new one. At what point can I put a bid on a house I like during the process of selling my house? I know there is a contingency you can make about transitioning to a new home before moving out when selling. Can a bid be made with the contingency on selling the house and using the equity to make a cash purchase?
