CRE Relationship Manger Role?

So I'm currently in school wondering what kind of entry level role leads to working as a RM at a firm? Are there differences between working as a CRE RM and a RM at a community bank? Also what is the salary and work-life balance of these roles typically on the CRE side? What types of internships should I be looking for in order to break in this part of the business. Thanks.

My understanding is you work for the bank and source debt deals and possibly work with the underwriters. If this is the case, then the big brokerages offer entry level roles (if banks don't, I am not too familiar with this side of the business). I would imagine CBRE's role as a Production Analyst is a great way to get in, if not with the bank directly. Other people on this forum can probably weigh in better.
