Career Resources
What has made you consider debt brokerage over the numerous other roles in CRE?
What has your experience been thus far in the industry?
Overall, it’s a great business that combines both analytical skills and sales skills to serve your clients. Like any type of brokerage, there are good times and bad times, so you need to be able to stomach the drops in the markets to be able to make it a career. Like, have 12-24 months of living expenses stashed away with your first few big commission checks, instead of going out and buying that Tesla you’ve been eyeing. You know, basic stuff.
The best debt brokers are less sales people and more true advisors to their clients, and like any good advisor, is extremely up front and honest about what they can do for their clients.
Last key to success is to get on a high performing team that you can learn from. Going out on your own at the beginning is a recipe for failure. Team, and mainly the team lead who you will be learning from, are most crucial to early success.
