Help! NY APT Search

Lateral starting soon in NY. Looking on street easy right now for places but literally it gets saved 300 times within a day. Brokers never respond/inquiries fall unheard. Haven't reached out to a broker to find a place for me because of the fees. I had no idea it was like 15-20% or even an entire month's rent just for them being the middle man. Any tips/anyone here able to help find a spot? Looking in midtown/hells kitchen.

I got a tip…606 W 57TH is the fucking shit!!

Good location convenient to Columbus circle and west side highway. And a phenomenal building with a great fitness center, full size basketball court, nice rooftop area (which was way better when the building first opened until a new condo tower directly south blocked out the southern views and sun), and great people who work there. My apartment there was pretty high up and overlooking the Hudson and the palisades, it was a nice escape from the city. Lots of light and sun. I loved it. Very nice place. Only moved cause I left NYC (for the time being).

Less than 15, 0.7 miles, it’s not bad. Plus there’s a Whole Foods right there at Columbus circle, easy to get food and groceries cause you’re at Columbus circle often anyways.

I moved up to NYC in the last year, few things I learned:

  • Find a short term rental for a 2-4 weeks.Use StreetEasy to find buildings you can afford that you like.
  • Only look at "no fee" apartments.Call the buildings, ask about the listings you saw or about upcoming listings.

Be prepared to cut a check for at least the first month of rent and another month's rent for security deposit. Watch a ton of Cash Jordan TY videos if you're not familiar with the NY rental market.

Hells Kitchen is an awesome area, best "affordable" neighborhood in Midtown.
