Interviewing while having a current job

So I have been looking at options to leave my current job and about 2 weeks ago I called in "sick" to go to other interviews and the company that I interviewed at wants me to come in again. I recently had to take another day off unrelated to the interview.

Is it weird for me to take another day off to interview? What should i say to my current company? What should i say to the prospective company? Keep in mind that both companies are boutique firms and are flexible. What is the best course of action?

"yayaa" But if you’re applying to other jobs, that means you want to leave.
Not always. It could be a scenario where an experienced professional is seeing what else is out there or trying to determine compensation potential.
"yayaa" When does the talk come about leaving?
Once you accept the other offer.
"yayaa" It’s not better to be transparent about your current situation?

In theory, yes. But risk (passed promotions, lower compensation or bonus, or chance of employment termination) is not worth the reward (?) of your employer knowing that you want to leave.

"yayaa" Why is everyone avoiding the matter at hand? Speak with your current employer about your situation. They’ll understand and won’t be shocked when you suddenly tell them you’re out.

It’s not better to be transparent about your current situation?

Can anyone advise. Thanks.

I seriously hope you are trolling.

Speaking with your current employer about your desire to leave is a great way to get fired within the week. The time to talk about leaving is when you have an offer in hand and are actually leaving. The 2-4 weeks of "notice" you give when you quit is your transparency.
