Moving Offices Internally

Hi All-

I'm looking to join a brokerage firm as an analyst, moving from private banking (which I've been an analyst at for a little over a year). I will preface this by saying that I plan to relocate cities in the next ~year, give or take a few months. My question is: Would it be better for me to join as an analyst right now in the current city I live in, and then hope to move internally (or to another shop in the city I will be moving to)? Or hold off and keep my current job until I make the move?
Appreciate any insight
