Offered Job, but won't give the official offer

Hi guys,

I got an email offer as an analyst at JLL/CBRE/CushWake about a month ago, and have been in contact with the team over this time. About a week later, the team told me that they are having trouble with corporate getting the hiring process going and were not sure about timing, as corporate was 'analyzing interest rates and future market conditions' or something to that effect. They have not been very communicative and I have been left in limbo for a long time now.

I would love general advice about what to do in this situation. I've talked to my would-be boss, as well as emailed the recruiter who recruited me. Is there anyone I can contact to get visibility or try to speed the process along? Or, do you think I am likely to get my offer rescinded? Thanks for any insight you may have.

His most recent message, which was last week, was that he is "working to schedule time to get some visibility" and he is "not in full control of timing at the corporate level," and that he'd get back to me.

Has nothing to do with you. There’s just some market turmoil. Even in CRE. Couple of multifamily transactions I know of has had a buyer back out.

Multifamily construction loan rates have jumped like 100bps since a few months ago.

People think the world is going to go to shit so there would be no need to bring on additional analysts.

Same thing is going on at tech companies. There’s a hiring freeze.

I’m just rambling, but the point is, this is totally a macro driven thing, and there’s nothing you can do to change that. Hopefully the market recovers and they hire you. In the meantime, keep interviewing
