On-Cycle Megafund Acq Hiring from IB

Has anyone secured a summer 2023 Megafund acquisitions position as an experienced hire ? Trying to better understand if these firms anticipate having headcount need for summer 23 acquisition professionals and what path I need to take to secure such a role. I’m in REIB and have not yet secured a 2023 acq role and am scared layoffs might impact my role. Trying to secure something ASAP and wanted to see where others are with this process.

I have cold emailed alumni at Blackstone, Starwood, Ares, etc, but have not gotten much traction this way. Also, recruiters don’t seem to have many acquisitions roles right now. How are people looking at headcount needs for summer 23?

I currently work at a UMM firm that does institutional size deals but not close to the size of MF REPEs so take this with a grain of salt...but we aren't looking at expanding acquisitions team at all this year even with the expectation that we would look at more deals throughout the year. We kept the vast majority of our analysts and associates through this down turn so that's predominantly why. I'm not aware of any mass layoffs at Blackstone, Ares, Starwood that would justify bringing on more people this summer when deals start to get going. I would assume that 2024 is when things kind of go back to normal with normal hiring classes again.
