Bump any insights? Can it be anywhere near $200K base?
Bump
What does prescreen even mean
It's the work that goes into a deal before a deal is mandated meaning before a loan application is signed by the borrower. Its initial sizing, pricing, structuring, etc. Once the app is signed, then underwriting takes over. In many shops particularly the ones that are busy, the underwriting team is different from the screening team.
Is this essentially an originations analyst role?
Bump- does anyone in Newmark has any insight on the pay here or a similar role at another agency shop? Have a feeling this is one of those roles that has an inflated manager title but you are barely making $150-200K. As another data point I know Berkadia also has a transaction "manager" position but in reality you are basically a senior analyst, so appreciate any insights, thank you!
Barely making $150k-$200k? Would that not be pretty solid for screening/underwriting?
It's solid but I mean it's associate or senior associate pay for screeners at my shop. Sure, I would love to have the "manager' title but if its the same pay, I am not moving. If I get a better title, I would love to see a bump in pay as well right.
bump- do any other agency shops have such a screening manager role? Any idea on their pay, or does underwriting also screen deals so there is essentially just origination and underwriting and no separate group/need called screening?
Think $200k would be your ceiling until you have a few YoE on the job.
At my prior firm (W&D, Lument, Berkadia), we have pre-screeners who are called deal managers. The one in my office made $150k base and maybe 30-40% bonus.
If you are looking for the big pay day, go into originations and get deals closed.
How many years of experience do those deal managers earning $150K base with 30-40% bonus have? If they have 3-5 years of experience, what's next for them? Are there career pre screeners/deal managers (with hopefully an increase in pay) or the more senior they go they have to choose between originations and underwriting?
What will be the base pay + bonus for this role?
$200K base would be my guess? not sure on the bonus.
