Real Estate Debt Placement (Brokerage) to small Private RE Lender?

I started my career in balance sheet CRE lending at a big US Bank (~2 years) before transferring to a large brokerage firm placing mostly debt and some equity (<1 year). When I was interviewing for my current position, I almost took an offer from a small real estate private lending firm. It's pretty much hard money lending but 100% of their business is short-term bridge between $1MM and $20MM, with avg deal size around $3M, they originated $350M last year and have <10 employees. They also sell of their notes to large debt funds 2-6 months. 

The small private lender just came back 9 months later with the following offer: Cover my current base + bonus as my base salary, and back-end participation depending on the company's total volume + my performance. I could make 50-60% more than I make now, and I should conservatively clear my current comp by 30-40%.  In my opinion this is a great offer, but I'm not sure how this looks on a resume in the event it does not work out. Does anyone have experience in the smaller private money lending world?
