Residential to CRE Development
I've been giving a chance to join a small but growing developer that only does multifamily in a major city on the east coast. I feel like I might get pigeonholed since I graduated from undergrad last year and this would be my first role in development. Would a transition to a hotel or office developer be possible in a few years without a graduate degree?
I know I'm jumping the gun here since I haven't even started yet.
I'm a banker, not a developer, but in my opinion don't worry about getting pigeonholed at this stage. If you want to be in hotel or office, then of course, try to start there. But, the most important part is just getting some initial experience. You'll learn a lot that is transferable, especially at this stage.
Thanks for the input!
