Single Family Rental REIT NOT Purchasing REO Homes

I worked at a private real estate investment trust for a few months that focused on single family rentals. The market essentially opened up from homes foreclosing and institutional investors purchasing them in bulk. However, the REIT I worked for apparently did not purchase REO Homes. Why do you think this would be???
