This brokerage team any good?

So i’m thinking about maybe joining this investment sales team doing institutional brokerage at a big 3 type firm. Their deal volume has been around 1 billion annually (at least for past two years). I know brokerage at the analyst level is very team dependent so i was wondering - is this a strong team? When people say “you want to join a strong team,” would this count as one. And just using JLL for example where i believe their comp is 65 base with deal tips - what do you think total compensation would look like?

thanks

$1B is generally a good marker, but you should also look at their average transaction size. The mega institutional space tends to get pretty squeezed on their fees, so a team doing a handful of 9-figure deals is going to earn significantly less than a killer middle-market team also handling $1B transaction volume.

Either way, high volume middle market or lower volume institutional is going to get you solid experience if this is an entry level position.

at least for 2022 it seemed that the team completed 25 transactions so roughly 40 mill per. i believe the team is two MDs and a 2 directors and an associate. from this info i’d assume it’s still strong?

it’s either join now or later. the job market is horrible across the board so what other options do i have? lol. timing is so bad given my graduation date but as long as i don’t get laid off wherever i start, joining a top brokerage still seems like a decent start. i’d be interested to hear other alternatives but there’s not many options

Definitely take the bird in hand but maybe apply to all of the principal side firms in the location you’re targeting. I’m assuming you have a strong resume.
