Which RE modeling program is for me?
Landed a gig in development. Doing a fair amount of modeling/underwriting.
Excel skills are decent. I understand equity research in theory through the CFA program in which I’m a candidate. I’ve never worked IB so the modeling skills lag.
I want to EXCEL in my current role and set myself up for my next gig, ideally REPE. I’m craving the finance side of things.
For me, development was always something I wanted to learn, but it won’t be my career. I view this as a way to get exposure to the construction side. Pursuing the CFA is going to get me through the finance side.
I purchased WSP, did some, but got tied up with grad + Level 2. I didn’t, however, purchase the RE pack. So now is my chance to get something RE dedicated.
Thanks in advance for any input!
BIWS is best, or just use adventures in CRE. I generally like ACRE models the best, they have blank templates you can rebuild with a tutorial as well. Im trying to get better at modeling now too (1st year analyst) and will just go through and build out an adventures in CRE model if I have some down time at work.
Personally, would not recommend REFM. I hate the way they build their models, make it very hard to follow
I agree with Adventures in CRE. I've used a couple different programs. ACRE + Linneman's textbook (depending on your knowledge base of RE Finance and Development modeling) is a great combo.
how much of a finance base did you need for linneman? I know they have supplemental chapters but didn't know how much they helped.
