Cover Letter Review for Undergrad Sophomore

Any feedback on this cover letter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

8 January, 2014
Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is [Removed]and I am a second year undergraduate finance major at New York University’s Stern School of Business. Through attending your research information session and speaking with current employees at the firm, I am confident [Removed]offers me the best opportunity to pursue my interest in finance and the markets.

Since beginning my undergraduate studies I have gained extensive knowledge of corporate finance and the markets through my rigorous finance courses at Stern as well as through my experience as part of the [Removed] portfolio team. I am primarily interested in research given my passion for corporate news and geopolitical events, as well as the position’s mix of quantitative and qualitative analysis. While I enjoy taking the time to do a deep-dive of a company’s financials, I also thrive under pressure when analyzing how the market will react to an unexpected announcement.

My experience interning last summer at [Removed], a tech-startup which was in the midst of its first major capital raising deal allowed me to gain a perspective of deals from the client side. Managing [Removed], an educational retail sole proprietorship, over the past two years has taught me how to foster strong client relationships while also pursuing strategic ways to grow my bottom line. Finally, working as a part time Jr. Equity Research Associate at [Removed] this academic year allowed me to gain hands on experience researching, modeling, and publishing. I have honed my analytical skills while learning to deliver quality results in a fast paced environment.

Given the skills obtained from these experiences and as someone truly passionate about the financial markets, I am a particularly good fit for a summer analyst role at [Removed]. I would be honored to become a part of your team. I welcome an opportunity to discuss my qualifications with you and learn more about [Removed]at your earliest convenience. I can be reached at [Removed] or via email at [Removed]. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
[Removed]
