For IB Summer Analyst positions, how important is a prior finance internship on the resume?

I am applying for SA 2022, but I have no finance internships on my resume. I go to a well-respected school that sends a lot of kids to top places (but below HYP) and have a ~3.9 GPA. I also have good extracurricular/leadership experience and I think I interview well. This summer, I am doing economic research with a faculty member at my school, whereas many of my peers are doing PE and AM stuff. How big of a disadvantage is this? My only finance-related experience is a finance club on campus. I haven't had the greatest results in the recruiting process thus far, and am wondering if I should try to lock down an off-cycle finance-related internship that I can put on my resume for later applications.
