Not sure what to do this summer
Currently in a tough situation with regards to how I should spend this summer as someone going for a 2021 SA role. I have yet to go through an interview guide and was planning to use the rest of May to do this as well as network as much as possible. Once May is over, I have several options for June-August and wanted to get some opinions.
Option 1: Remote Bus. Dev. internship at a small unknown firm, 35-40 hrs/wk so no time for IB prep
Option 2: Summer online classes or research, 10-20 hrs/wk so decent amount of time for IB prep
Option 3: Nothing besides IB Prep for the rest of the summer
I am assuming that firms won't hold it against me if I don't do anything this summer (correct me if I'm wrong) so that's why I'm considering allocating all of my time towards prep/networking. I'm also not at all prepared for interviews at this point, so I could use the extra time. The one thing that makes me want to go with Option 1 is that I don't have any finance/business exp. on my resume -- all I have are student orgs and clubs on campus. Was thinking that the bus. dev. summer internship could possibly help my resume (?).
Please let me know what you think I should do. Appreciate any thoughts/insight.
I can tell you with absolute certainty that doing a remote job of 35-40 hours a week will leave you with enough time for IB prep. Prep before and after work and on the weekends. In my opinion it will not take you an entire summer to prep, you will definitely be bored if you choose to go that route.
