Rising Junior Resume Review - Goal: IB SA internship
I would appreciate it if anyone was willing to offer some tips and advice so I can polish and revise my resume. I've replaced all of my personal and identifiable information so if it looks a little funny that's why.
I want to perfect my resume with the goal of securing an IBD Summer Analyst internship come recruiting season in a month or two.
Your name should be bigger; Your addresses should be right and left justified; The underline break between Education and your address should go from left border to right border; I prefer your section titles to be above the experiences with lines breaking them apart, but if you feel that your resume would be too short, this is fine; Your dates should be right justified; Change the Current GPA line to "GPA: 3.82" Honors should be part of your university, which should be in bulletted form - Honors should not be a separate section; Combined Skills and ECs into 1 section with separate bullets: "Computer Skills," "Hobbies," and "Clubs" or something like that; Take out recreational sports unless you want to list actual sports; Take the periods out of your bullets; Your sub font should be the same size - education vs experience; Your bullets need some revising and some trimming; What happened to the business you founded - this seems sort of open ended - if you are fluffing it to be more than it is, you can cut it as it is dated; The Casino Dealer doesn't add anything to your resume, but I understand your choice to keep it in considering you have an older experience on your resume - to avoid a big time gap

-The line at the top should be the same width as the page margins. -Format your dates consistently across sections: ie use spaces between "date - date" vs "date-date" -First bullet under summer research analyst: 2nd line is off-line.
Thanks for all the advice. I'll do some revisions tonight and hopefully post an edited copy soon for further revision.
I decided to keep the BlackJack/Poker job on there because it's always come up in interviews as a talking point. People for some reason always want to know more and talk about that one. I guess it's rather unique, and like you mentioned, helps take care of that time gap. I had a hosting job in-between my e-company and the blackjack job but it was pretty irrelevant and not that unique so I went ahead and omitted it.
The business I started eventually hit a brick wall. Since I was under 18 at the time I couldn't secure a business license and my risk averse parents did not want to sponsor me for one. It got to the point where the revenue (and marginal profit I was generating as a result of a lack of business license) started to outweigh the time I had to put into it. My grades started slipping (not going to mention this) so I ended up calling it quits and dropping the business. In addition to this my account on eBay was flagged because of the large transaction volume and they asked me to verify my information. At which point they found out that I was under 18 and proceeded to shut down the store I had on there. Essentially, I got screwed because of my age.
Do you think it's worth it to retain it on my resume?
