Trying To Get My 1st Internship - Please Review

Hi, I'm trying to get my first internship in bank. As I do not have any prior working experience, do you think it will be very difficult to get an internship in either IBD or S&T?

I'm from Singapore by the way, so the GPA is in x.xx/5.00 instead of x.xx/4.00. This is my resume :

Thanks! Rick

Taking a quick glance, your resume needs some work:

  1. Grammar, grammar, grammar - watch your grammar across the board - even "Interest" is plural, so it should be "Interests" and "Languages" and "Technical Skills"

  2. Include month and year for all experience from month year to month year

  3. Remove "deans list" if it is your only honor

  4. Rework your heading

  5. Your bullet points need some work as well - you want to punch up the verb usage, watch the grammar, and especially beef them up a bit - explain not just what you did, but how you did it and what it meant. For example, your first experience could be interesting, but you need to clean it up

PM me if you have any other questions and good luck.

@BankonBanking: I've read multiple posts that suggest removing "deans list" if it is your only honor. Why is this exactly? It seems like you should state any and all honors that you receive.

People tend to think life is a race with other people. They don't realize that every moment they spend sprinting towards the finish line is a moment they lose permanently, and a moment closer to their death.

The reason is that although Dean's List is an honor and something you've achieved, as a standalone it just takes up space and isn't necessary since anyone with a 3.7 or so or better GPA is on the dean's list - it's not something you've been given or something you are being recognized for - it's pretty much your status based on your GPA. The fact that you have the GPA is the accomplishment, not that you've made the dean's list. If you have another honor, then feel free to mention it since you've got the line anyway, but otherwise, leave it out - you are better off with more free space and since it is implied based on your GPA, it won't really do anything to help your candidacy.
