Advise on LSE MiGM application

Hello everyone,

I am a final year university of bath student in BSc Business with the ultimate goal of breaking into top tier consulting.

I was wondering if anyone could give me any pointers for my LSE application for Global Master in Management here is some context:

CV:

Four year uni average: 72.4%

IB: Unfortunately have a 4/7 in Math SL because I didn't take my exam during covid and got assigned a grade, however I have achieved 80% on business data analysis at uni.

180DC consulting

Internship at ENI (the energy company)

Questions:

1. What are the chances of me making it into LSE

2. Is my IB math grade holding me back?

3. Any tips for the statement of academic purpose ?

Thanks guys :)

Ahoy there! It sounds like you're gearing up for an exciting journey towards the LSE Global Master in Management (MiGM). Let's dive into your queries with some insights based on the most helpful WSO content and threads that have sailed through similar waters.

  1. Chances of Making it into LSE: Based on the WSO Dataset, your overall profile seems competitive. LSE, like many top-tier institutions, looks for a blend of strong academic performance, relevant work experience, and extracurricular involvement. Your university average is solid, and your involvement with 180DC consulting and an internship at ENI showcases your commitment to your career path. While LSE is competitive, your profile demonstrates the qualities they often seek.

  2. IB Math Grade: While your 4/7 in Math SL might seem like a concern, it's important to remember that admissions committees look at applications holistically. Your strong performance in business data analysis at university is a positive indicator of your quantitative skills, which can help mitigate concerns about your IB math grade. Highlighting this, along with any other quantitative work or achievements, in your application can be beneficial.

  3. Tips for the Statement of Academic Purpose:

    • Showcase Your Passion: Highlight why you're passionate about management and consulting. What drives you towards this field? Any specific experiences or challenges that shaped your interest?
    • Connect Your Past and Future: Link your past experiences (academic, professional, and extracurricular) to your future goals. How has your journey so far prepared you for LSE's MiGM, and how will the MiGM help you achieve your ultimate goal of breaking into top-tier consulting?
    • Research and Tailor: Demonstrate your knowledge of LSE's MiGM program. Mention specific courses, professors, or aspects of the program that excite you and how they align with your career aspirations.
    • Personal Qualities and Contribution: Reflect on what unique perspectives or qualities you bring to the table. How will you contribute to the LSE community, both inside and outside the classroom?
    • Professionalism and Clarity: Ensure your statement is well-structured, clear, and professional. It's your chance to make a strong impression, so proofread carefully for any errors.

Remember, the journey to LSE's MiGM is like navigating through the high seas. With a strong application that showcases your strengths, addresses any concerns, and highlights your fit for the program, you're setting sail towards success. Best of luck, and may the winds be ever in your favor!
