Thats a good question - I would suspect director and up would be of greater value because it would show that you were a rock star. However do kids still apply to b-school with only 2 yrs of banking experience now? I thought 2 yrs banking and 2 yrs pe/hf were necessary if you were to set yourself apart from everyone else (from those who pursued finance).
I'm in a top 5 program, and I only know of one guy who came from banking with only 2 years experience. Most everyone I can think of did 1-2 years at PE. A few did business development. One stayed at the bank and was an A2A before coming to b-school.
