I remember there being one building that the plurality of students live in at Michigan and Randolph, just north across the street from the NW corner of Millennium Park. I think that's still the case. There are many options in Hyde Park as well, though.

You have a number of “core” options if you want to be close to the action. Millennium Park Plaza is the obvious choice for those who are on a tighter budget or want to be right at the heart of the social scene. There are also a ton of options nearby:

1) Columbus Plaza is a bit nicer than MPP and about three blocks away. From my experience, the Boothies here tended to be the Latin/International community or those who were less party-goers. 2) Lakeshore East has a few newish buildings that are more upscale than Columbus Plaza. You get less bang for your buck space wise, but you simultaneously get better amenities and a pleasant little outdoor park area. If you have a dog, this spot is gold. 3) Aqua at the Radisson Blu has Condos that are rented by owners. These are substantially more pricey but equally more luxurious. If you’re not concerned about burning cash and want to live the high life, Aqua is the place to be. 4) There are plenty of one-off places you can live beyond these buildings, but these house the majority of Booth students. Chicago has no shortage of quality housing at affordable rates. Thank the fact that the city sits on top of solid bedrock and building 50+ story buildings is super easy, leading to a huge supply of housing!

My information is dated at this point as I lived there 5+ years ago, but I can’t imagine things have changed too much. I recommend you join the admitted students chats and speak with current students to get a feel for how things are these days.

Is there a particular reason the majority of booth kids aggregate in 4-5 apartments? Do they all get their recs from the admissions office or something or just the effect of word of mouth? These options also all seem rather expensive on top of bschool fees (compared to say 600-800 in HP)... I'm guessing only ex-bankers live here or do people actually take out loans just to be able to join in on the fun?
