Best Route For MBA at top tier college

Im currently working as a full time software developer and in the next 3yrs will be concluding my part time software degree at a local college. Last year I decided to get into finance and am now determined. I enrolled in the CFA program and begin studying for the December exam. My plan is after my degree to move to the UK and enroll in an MBA to then get into IB or AM

My question is, if all goes well and I pass my Level 1 of CFA should I stay in software for my remaining 3yrs of my degree or try land some kind of finance job and work there for the remainder? Which one would increase my chances of getting accepted to a top tier MBA program and land an IB or AM position in the future?

Thank you :)
