Columbia vs. UPenn CAS undergrad?
Hey guys,
I'm a current high-school senior, and I just got off the waitlist for Columbia but I'm kind of torn on whether to go there or UPenn CAS for undergrad. I'm interested in majoring in Math & CS (would also apply for dual-degree w/ Wharton if I go to Penn) and I'm looking to go into either tech/consulting/hedge funds/quant finance out of college.
Overall, my main concern is that for Penn I'd automatically be considered second-tier to the Wharton kids when it comes to recruiting for internships (assuming I don't get accepted to dual-degree w/ Wharton), whereas if I go to Columbia I'd be on equal footing with everyone else, but Columbia's core curriculum would take up a lot of space for classes. Also, I'd probably have better internship opportunities since Columbia's in NYC, but I feel like there's a lot more of an entrepreneurship culture at Penn whereas ppl at Columbia seem like they're too busy doing work to do that kind of stuff.
Assuming cost is the same, which one would you guys recommend?
If you're confident about Wharton, I would go there. If not, I would take Columbia.
