Few questions about M7 applications?
Hello, about the "Why MBA?" question: I want to live in New York for a couple of years. Is this a valid answer, or should I work on something else?

Career Resources
Haha wow good thing you asked. Saying you want to live in NYC is a TERRIBLE reason for why you want an MBA. It doesn't even answer the question. Plenty of people live in NYC without getting an MBA. As for your career goals, saying you want to work in PE is what about a thousand other IB applicants will say, and without pre-MBA PE experience you'll have a much harder time. I'd probably drop that too. Make your application more interesting.. say you want to work in an industry you have some exposure to (be specific). You're one of a ton of IB people who want an MBA, make yourself stand out in some way. PE is not a good way to do that, and neither is continuing in IB. It's a good exercise in marketing yourself.
Why do you want to go to business school prior to getting PE experience? If working in PE is your goal, you should absolutely recruit for pre-MBA PE positions and apply to business school after being a PE associate for a couple years.
Not to mention that Analyst -> Associate does not require an MBA either.
