GMAT & Application Timing

I asked this general question in another thread, but here goes... schools have listed admissions deadlines for various rounds and they state that you must have your entire application package at that point. Is the final scoring for the GMAT included in this 'package' or can you submit your package having already taken the GMAT, but without your 'official scores' which would be sent to the school a few days post-application submission and deadline.

Example: MIT has Round II deadline on Jan 4th if I take my GMAT on Dec 23 I clearly won't have my official scores, but can I still apply and be considered given the fact that I've taken the exam and have unofficial scores?

From what I've read on the applications, most of the schools do not require an 'official GMAT' score...they will verify it once you get accepted into the program....so you can take your GMATs and report the results you get at the end of the exam.

That is pretty great news for those of us that haven't had time to actually study for the GMAT. I suppose I need to check each individual application for the requirements.

This is true in my experience. Most schools will ask for self-reported scores as well as a scanned copy of your unofficial score report (which you will receive on test day) and then confirm your scores upon admission/matriculation
