GUEST SPEAKER NEEDED - SCHOOL FINANCE SOCIETY

I'm a student in Year 12 in the UK and I run the finance society at my grammar school and also help lead a wider student initiative focused on expanding access to finance education and industry exposure for state school students across the country. Sessions collectively reach 100+ students.

There’s a lot of genuine interest from members, many without existing family connections to the industry so opportunities like this can make a real difference.

We’re looking for finance professionals from any area of finance including IB, PE, HF, AM, quant, fintech or anywhere else who would be open to doing a virtual talk or Q&A session over Zoom or Google Meet. Any insight is really valuable as most students are still exploring different paths and would benefit from exposure to a range of industries.

Topics students would especially love insight on:

  • Your career path and major turning points
  • What your day-to-day work actually looks like
  • What actually matters early in your career and how people stand out
  • How AI is changing workflows and decision-making in finance
  • Recommended books, projects, technical skills or learning resources
  • Things that surprised you when entering the industry

The format is completely flexible. This could be a Q&A, discussion or presentation depending on your preference and I’d be happy to share questions in advance.

We previously hosted a speaker from this forum and were told it was a very rewarding experience.

If you’d potentially be interested, I’d really appreciate a message or reply just here. Any insight students can gain exposure to would be hugely valuable -- this means any level of seniority.

(+ bumps are appreciated too!)
