Why doesn't Georgetown just do an on-campus msf? They could rake in dollars and (provided they give decent OCR) be among the nation's top MSF programs (WUSTL, Claremont mckenna, etc.)

I agree. Im really interested to see how the program plays out over the next few years.

From my conversations that is the eventual plan. Not sure when but I am sure it will happen. And you have to see it from the professors pov. In person means daytime classes. These professors already teach some Ug and MBA classes. The online offering was probably a concession vs adding extra classes that will only take away more time from research.

I'm local but unfortunately not much experience with Mfin programs.

Both programs are on the expensive side, with GWU around $70 and Georgetown pushing $100 if I'm not mistaken. Have you checked out Maryland's program? I know someone who did it at their location in Federal Triangle and I think it was under $50 all together.

Is your employer paying for this? Are you doing it to get into the field or to bolster your credentials? Are you thinking about switching employers afterwards? All those should come into play when evaluating career services, prestige, and reputation. For instance, it would be tougher to network with Georgetown's online program.

Georgetown is about 70 as well. I wanted to do UMD...I did undergrad there...but they cancelled the part-time program. my employer would only pay about 10k of it. im already in the industry but wanted a more analytical position...I'm currently an investment consultant.

Do the Johns Hopkins program. They have a DuPont circle campus and is the cheapest option.

Isnt the Johns Hopkins program kinda long? I remember looking at it when I was based in DC. Thought it was like 2.5 years or something. Could totally be wrong though @TNA

I mean it is a 30 credit masters. If you do the program PT while working it can take as long or as short as you want it.

you dont think gtown is reputable enough to justify the cost?

I would imagine the major differences are 1st year program v established and online v oncampus with OCR. Just a guesss
