help! what should i do??
I am currently a freshman at a non target 4 years university and I plan to transfer to a target school for my junior year. I am wondering if I should transfer to a community college first during my spring semester of freshmen year because I am able to save a lot of money and it will probably be easier to achieve a higher gpa. However will this affect my chance of transferring to a target school seeing that I already attended two schools?
Well, without knowing the specifics of your situation, I believe the opposite of what you've currently proposed is the best route.
I.e. you should try to transfer to the target sooner rather than later. This will open many, many more doors than waiting until junior year to transfer. That being said, you're going to have to make the decision yourself with respect to the value of a "target" education/set of opportunities. Is it worth paying the (assumingly) higher tuition sooner and accruing more student debt? Depends on your priorities.
Good luck!
Maybe you wanna repost this in the business school forum? Chances for a higher response and potentially better feedback.
However, what @kraziazi" said sounds solid.
It's likely that you'll need time to "sink in", otherwise the competition within targets isn't exactly going to make anything easier.
Without cash concerns, which is totally out there, you shall try to transfer as early as you can. First you know you're in only when you're in, and second you get their resources earlier.
and then it's your self-evaluation to say, how much does my cash situation defer my target transfer? What's a sustainable cash level under a reasonable (maybe higher) budget for costs in a target?
@whattherock" @kraziazi" thanks! I will considering transferring asap
