Hi everyone, I spent about a year at a mid-market tech investment bank and am now choosing between three roles that I’d likely stay in for ~1 year before starting a master’s around Aug 2027:
- Data Science Associate at a small biotech firm
- Big 4 Valuation
- Investment Analyst at an industry firm
My preference is still a strong finance-focused program - MIT MFin is probably my top choice, with programs like UChicago MFin also high on my list. But I’m also considering more quantitative programs like Columbia Financial Mathematics, as well as bio/health-focused programs such as Yale Biostatistics and Harvard Health Data Science.
Long term, I want to end up in investing / asset management. At the same time, getting into a top school is also very important to me, so I’m open to a more quantitative or interdisciplinary program if it gives me a stronger overall outcome.
I’m mainly trying to figure out whether it would be better to spend this next year building out the quant/data side of my profile or staying on a more straightforward finance/investing path. Would really appreciate any thoughts on how admissions might view these three options.
