IE University: Hot or Not?

Alright so I've been trying to understand what kind of school IE is. Target? non-target? semi? I have no idea. Every discussion I've had, forum I've read, and statistic I found gives varying and disparate answers (half of what I've found online seems to portray IE as complete horseshit for high finance in Europe, and the other half portrays IE as a solid school), and I need to settle this once and for all. For me personally, IE seems like a really fitting school for me; it has lovely campuses in beautiful spanish cities, seems to have cool people (most of the people I know that went there don't seem like boring or arrogant pricks), sun, good facilities, and a solid curriculum. But the sole deciding factor for me right now is whether or not it is a target school for EU/UK front-office investment banking. Can anyone who works in the EU/EK in IB enlighten me on IE's true status in the finance world (at least for undergrad). Thanks.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, IE University is generally considered a semi-target for investment banking in Europe. While it is not in the same league as top-tier target schools like LSE, Oxbridge, or HEC Paris, it does have some presence in the recruitment process, particularly for Spanish offices or regional roles. However, breaking into front-office roles in the UK or other major European financial hubs from IE may require significant networking and strong academic performance.

For undergraduates, IE's reputation is not as strong as its master's programs, which are more recognized in the finance world. If your goal is to secure a front-office IB role in the EU/UK, you might face tougher competition compared to graduates from top-tier target schools. That said, IE's international environment, modern facilities, and curriculum can still provide a solid foundation, but you'll need to compensate with proactive networking and internships.

If you're set on IE, focus on building a strong resume, leveraging alumni connections, and targeting internships early to maximize your chances.
