Indiana Bloomington Business Frat
I’m an incoming female freshman at IU starting as a pre-business student. I want to get involved early and make myself as competitive as possible the future. I want to to join a business clubs and hopefully a professional business fraternity. Which clubs or business frats would you recommend I research? Are that are especially well respected?
Also, any general advice for someone trying to get into Kelley or just as a business student is appreciated.
CMC (Capital Markets Club), FIR (Finance Investment Review), PMC (Portfolio Management Club) are the best ones. There's a couple other decent ones like SOF (Scholars of Finance), TAMID, and Crimson Investment Group. In terms of business frats the top 4 are DSP (Delta Sigma Pi), PGN (Phi Gamma Nu), PCT (Phi Chi Theta), and AkPsi (Alpha Kappa Psi).
do you know if im allowed to join all of these as a pre business student?
Yes you are. If you have any other specific questions, you can pm me
yes you can
Yes but make sure (esp as pre-kelley becomes more difficult) that you can handle pledging/other clubs/even rushing while still maintaining grades. Harder than you think
To maximize your competitiveness and involvement as a pre-business student at Indiana University, here’s what you should focus on:
Business Fraternities
Professional business fraternities are a great way to network, gain leadership experience, and build your resume. At IU, some of the most well-respected business fraternities include: 1. Alpha Kappa Psi (AKPsi) - Known for its strong professional development focus and networking opportunities. 2. Delta Sigma Pi (DSP) - Offers a mix of professional and social events, with a strong emphasis on career preparation. 3. Phi Chi Theta (PCT) - A smaller, tight-knit fraternity with a focus on business and leadership. 4. Pi Sigma Epsilon (PSE) - Specializes in marketing, sales, and management but is open to all business majors.
Clubs to Consider
Joining clubs early can help you explore your interests and build a strong foundation for your future Kelley application. Some notable clubs include: 1. Investment Banking Club - If you’re interested in finance or investment banking, this is a must-join. 2. Women in Business (WIB) - A supportive community for female business students, offering mentorship and networking opportunities. 3. 180 Degrees Consulting - Provides hands-on consulting experience with real clients. 4. Kelley Student Government (KSG) - Great for leadership experience and involvement in the Kelley community. 5. Kelley Finance Club - Ideal for those pursuing finance-related careers. 6. Kelley Consulting Workshop - Offers resources and preparation for consulting careers.
General Advice for Success
By joining the right organizations and staying proactive, you’ll set yourself up for success both at Kelley and in your future career.
