If you want to get to senior level at ib - pe - hf - is an MBA required? Or can you organically rise the ranks? If an MBA is needed what does the timeline look like? Undergrad—>work (ib most likely)—> MBA? Or pivot to private equity and then mba?
Generally, I would say yes. It depends on the shop, sometimes they might promote without it, but that's more rare.
They want someone with a large network, that's what you get from an MBA program. Having gone through one, you're not there for intense learning experiences but to grab drinks with other people in the industry.
