Kudos, Section X at HBS

After Jodi Kantor's controversial article on gender balance at Harvard published in NYT on Sept. 7, information transpired on Section X, a "secret society of ultra-wealthy, mostly male, mostly international students called Section X, and known for decadent parties".

Kudos, Section X, and if there are any Section Xers also members of this forum, don't be shy, step forward !

Princeton undergrads "most of whom were making up for the fact that they did not have a 'college experience.'"

I empathize.

We've had three articles on this random group of drinking buddies at HBS. You'd think they were plotting global domination or at least tapping people to run around Yale's campus playing hijinks on the secret societies.

That. It's getting old.

To help erase the academic gap between men and women at Harvard, female students were taught how to raise their hands more aggressively in class.

Raising hands only raises questions. Dressing TheM up like bunnies and ordering them "Left" or "Right" - that's more like it.

What do you know ? The Playboy Club is back in London.

Winners bring a bigger bag than you do. I have a degree in meritocracy.

Are you gonna join? Any word on the annual membership fee?

Yes, I have heard of it. I find it rather stupid and don't really see the point.

Has anybody heard of a Guest of a Guest network, one of the Winklevoss's projects ?

Yes. I have some friends that have their photos featured on their website. It is really just a picture book of people from various parties etc. I did not know Cameron Winklevoss was behind it.

The Winklevoii should be glad that Mark Zuckerberg "stole" their idea which paid off nicely for them because judging from their various projects, I doubt their ConnectU project would have gone anywhere at all.

Re Mandarin Oriental Boston, I find Boston hotels in general to be a bit underwhelming. It is an old, historical city and hotels there tend to be on the smaller side, including this one.

The Mandarin at the Columbus Circle in NYC is rather nice thou, brand new construction with fantastic view over the Park and some very good restaurants on premise (Per Se etc).

Too late for second-guessing Too late to go back to sleep.

If I could live in any apartment building in the U.S., my top choice would be mandarin oriental/time warner in columbus circle. Perfect location and sick views.

On a personal note- last time I was in Boston (earlier this year) I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental. I'm usually "a Fan", if you will, and I stay many nights per year at the old Mandarin in central HK which is an amazing hotel on a number of levels, but the Boston one is pretty underwhelming... If I was a rich foreign guy I'd find better value for money.
