MBA for sticking in finance?
Hi all. As the title suggests, my question pertains to getting an MBA even if you are sure you'd like to stick in finance (PE/HF/VC). I'm a senior currently and not 100% sure about my future, but let's say I could see myself in finance for the long run, would I need an MBA? I
If you do leave, would it be part-time, EMBA, or full-time? Would the firm take you back? Would you be on your own and get a new job? What is the ultimate opportunity cost here? It all depends. If you are on a stable track and not at risk or anything... I would potentially not do it. If you are young enough to really benefit from it and if you want to land a different/better job within the industry... why not?
Some companies, I was told, even make you get further education for reasons that are not entirely clear to me. Could be a certain promotion, career track or "rubber stamping" it.
