MBA necessary for career in PF IB?

Hey everyone,

I am starting my SA position in PF at a BB. If nothing changes, I would love to make a career here long term. However, my mom is 1000% convinced that I need an MBA from an M7 after a few years of work experience. From my understanding, this is really only necessary if you want to lateral to other positions. If everything goes well, then I would ideally stay at the same company and field for a long duration.

Is it necessary to get the MBA if my goal is to stay in my same company, and work my way up? Obviously things are probably going to change, but would an MD need an MBA if he has stayed in IB his whole life and worked to get where he is today?
