Mccombs Finance major career options
I am currently a Mccombs student with a Major in Finance (energy track) and Minor in accounting. I plan on graduating with a 3.5 (could have been higher but I had a poor first semester), and have been involved with several finance orgs. What are the odds that I don't land a single IB offer, and what would my backup options look like? (corporate finance, Commercial banking?)
Mccombs recruites very well in Houston, so you should be able to land an offer as long as you put in the effort.
I went to UT-Austin for biochem and mathematics. Found my interest in finance after I took a financial mathematics course (in the math department). It was realistically too late to pivot for me so I landed in data science. It was the path of least resistance for me and pays really well. Have plans to go into an MBA and pivot.
USIT was a great organization to be in if only just for watching how long some students had been plotting their careers. Go look at the alumni of that group, some of them ended up in pretty good roles post-undergrad.
