MIT M.Fin Interviews just went out

I just got an email from the MIT Master of Finance program for an interview request. They had about 50 slots on the phone interview sign up.

Anyone whose been through the program or interviewed there have any information on what they ask or are looking for specifically?

Hey, I want to second the above request. So what do you think these interviews are for? Have they already screened applicants and decided to give interviews to a subset or was the email sent to everyone who applied?

How did your interviews go? I was hoping for a more technical interview with fewer behavioral/fit questions. 30 minutes of general questions and not a single question about finance or even current business/financial events.

Do you think we will receive the final decisions before february? Also, if anyone knows how many interviews were offered in total, do u mind sharing that as well.

They dont release the numbers on the number of interviews given, but seeing as they are trying to fill half the class in round 1 and half in round 2, there are around 65 spots, and there were 50-60 spots for interviews, I'd guess they are interviewing 100-150 kids total, but that could be completely offbase.

They didn't ask finance questions because there are so many people who are non-finance majors trying to get into the program.

They reserve the right to interview all the way up until February 7th. I assume this is to make sure they have full class in case Round 2 interviews dont get as many people as they would have wanted.

The admit rate last year was around 7 percent, but if you get an interview obviously it's much higher.

Admissions said they MAY send out decisions to some people before February 7th. I wouldn't get your hopes us though because they have a lot of people to go through and the second round deadline is in late January.

Concerning people who have been interviewed for the master of finance at MIT, Does anyone know which is the admission rate? I have recently been interviewed and would like to know which my chances are.

Thank you very much!

No one knows for sure. But they are admitting around 65 people, so I'd assume they admit 33 students per round (maybe more in first round than second, since they announced 2nd round the day after 1st round applications were due). So, if they interviewed 50-60 students, then admission rate works out to ~50%.

This could be way off (just an approximation).
