MSc Finance - International student : Baruch Vs U-Miami

Hi guys,

My dream is to work in Finance in the US.

I have recently received an offer from Baruch (zicklin school of business) and U-Miami (Herbert Business School) for their MSc in Finance (STEM degree which will give me 3 year OPT). I have applied a bit late so target schools closed their application for fall 2022 already.

My questions are the following;

- Which one should I go to? Miami seems to be better than Baruch but obviously not in NYC. Should I go there if my end goal is work for a Long/Short equity HF?

- Should I wait a year and apply for NYU/Columbia/ targets? My undergrad GPA is 3.94 et grad GPA 3.35. Worried about losing a year from here.

My reasoning is that despite not being targets, Miami is not that bad, and if I hustle hard enough I might be able to get an interesting summer internship. However, for the same price if I wait a year and get admitted I could be in NYU or Columbia...

I would love to get your opinion.

Best,

Chimp.
