MSc Finance options (U.K.)

I am about to finish my PhD in material science in a generic Russel Group uni and I am well aware that I am not going to make IB or other prestigious jobs upon graduation. Hating to staying in the field I plan to do a MSc to change my career path and keeping my options open.

Given my average background, at which MSc Finance will I have a shot and worth attending? Thinking of doing it to enjoy uni life (have been chasing grades, publications etc in the past 8 years).

Appreciate any comments/advice from you guys.

Skim through the ER forum, full of posts while the job is rewarding only for very few people.

Depending on what your PhD is in, there are plenty of large buyside funds that would be interested in you.

HC HFs do hire straight from PhD programs for those who know the science and can learn the finance component.

ER is not the best job, but it will get you trained in financial modeling and than you can pivot to the buyside after.

If you want to do another degree, do an MBA at LBS. You're a bit too tenured for an MSc geared to a recent grad. Your PhD + an LBS MBA will get you plenty of HC buy side looks.

Best of  luck mate/.
