Non Degree studies (post undergrad), beneficial?

Hey all,

I wanted to get some feedback on non-degree studies.

My undergrad was mech engineering from a non target state school (graduated with 3.4 overall, 3.58 core), right now i'm coming on a year of full time work as an engineer and i also interned for almost 4 yrs, part time and full time during summers

Anyways, right now i'm taking non-degree courses (finance related) which can be used towards an MBA at a school in top 50 U.S. MBA Programs (according to Forbes) (think more in the 40th range, like a UCONN)

anyways, will a gmat score of 680+ combined with a 3.8-4.0 in two non degree courses (economic markets and financial acct and reporting) in addition to my undergrad GPA of 3.4 with 1-2 yrs of work experience make me a decent candidate for the NYU and Columbia full time MBA programs?

Thank you.

I'm busting ass trying to make this happen, any words of advice are greatly appreciated!
