Pre - MBA Advice

Hi All,

First time poster and long-time reader / follower - love WSO and would appreciate any input / comments.

I was previously at a boutique investment bank for 2 years primarily focused on Digital Media & Internet. MD ended up spinning out to start his own shop (w/ same focus) with 4-5 people from our previous shop, including me. I will be working here with the anticipation of ending ~ summer 2014 to get his new venture up and running. That said, looking to go to B-School and applying by year end 2014.

As such, thinking about potential exit opps and am thinking either corporate development & strategy or management consulting as two avenues to pursue. Is it worth applying / recruiting for these positions knowing that I will be leaving probably after 1 year (with the assumption that I get into my target B-School)?

Or is the only alternative to defer Bschool by a year to have 2 years of actual experience at the new position (not really thrilled about this as I do want to go to Bschool a year earlier / younger - but agree from a logistical perspective might be difficult)? Or alternatively, are there designated pre-MBA positions with the mutual understanding of 1 year and out (i know this might be a long shot and haven't done thorough research around this so do apologize if it's completely off base).

Understand there's a lot of variables, but wanted to start thinking of my 12-24 mo. plan.

Any help would be great!

Thanks all.
