Pre-MBA Degree: MSc in Data Analytics vs MSc in Finance
I graduated from college last year with a bachelor's in business with a concentration in finance (Cumulative GPA: 3.1, major GPA: 3.6) and want to pursue a master's degree prior to my MBA in order to build expertise and mitigate by undergraduate GPA. I'm currently torn between pursuing a Master's in Data Analytics (Business Analytics track) or Finance (Investments track) and my goal is to transition from strategy consulting to private equity.
A degree in data analytics would help me become a more well-rounded Analyst/Associate as well as develop an in-demand skill, while the advanced degree in Finance would help be build expertise in Finance. How do you believe these two degrees would affect my business school and/or private equity recruiting prospects? Also, any general advice for people who plan to pursue a different Master's degree prior to their MBA? Thanks!
