Reapplication essays

Has anyOne else written these before ? I'm working on my only reapplication "why this MBA" standard first question and 750 words isn't a lot to discuss the school and your goals and why an MBA when you have a good chunk of those 750 spent on discussing how you've improved?

shorttheworldsimple was that your initial application or the reapplication? im assuming that adcoms obv know that you have a limited amount of space to talk about things other than what you did since you last applied so i hope they dont expect you to rail as much into the why MBA+why school+what do you want to do ;x

It was my initial application. So I can't comment too much on the differences in what they want in a re-application essay.

However, from my experience and research, 750 words is a great deal more than any other essay you will write for business school. For instance, I was given 500 words for my why masters + why school + what to do want to do with your life essay and I've heard of schools giving as little as 300 words (HBS, Stanford, etc.) for that essay and others.

So, my thought would be if they are giving you 750 words they really want you to drive home everything, from why you chose to reapply, to why this and that, etc.

That is why those books were so helpful to me. It gave me a reference as to how people actually structured such a dense essay into fewer than 500 or sometimes 300 words. I think my why masters + school + career aspirations ended up being around 450 words, but was extremely dense and specific.

The hardest part for me was being specific while also being concise; coming from a LAC I was used to BS'ing 15 and 20 page papers.

Good Luck with the reapplication.
