RSM VS BOCCONI
Hi all,
I am currently in my last year of high school. The thing is I am from a non-EEA country thus my high school diploma is somewhat weak. However, I hope to apply to semi-target European schools for my bachelor's. RSM and Bocconi stand out to me as they offer the financial support I need. After that, I will try to get into a target UK school. I am interested in career prospects for these 2 unis mainly, are they good? How do they compare to each other? Also, I am finishing my school early so I can apply to RSM this year but for Bocconi, I will have to wait for next year to prepare properly. I will not waste time however and study at the local uni even if it doesn't matter. what do you think is that 1-year difference crucial in case Bocconi is objectively better? By the way in career prospects, I do not mean just IB/PE/HF, I am kind of interested in law and management too, so I mean it in a broader aspect.
Not gonna answer your question but take your time and enjoy highschool with your friends. No need to finish early my man
Both are quite similar... What counts is where you can get good grades to apply to top UK masters...
If helpful:
I don’t know RSM well but I do know Bocconi. More importantly I think that is the overwhelming consensus view.
The Bocconi bachelor followed by its MiF is probably the most “cookie cutter” approach you can have to get into London finance. While everyone in that course pretty much wants IB you have as good a shot of getting an internship in London as anyone else. Huge alumni network given basically everyone who is Italian (aside from few exceptions) went to Bocconi plus more international students in recent years means it is 100% a target school for London. You will equally be competitive for Law and Management careers coming from Bocconi.
Having said that, if you know for 90% sure you will be doing a Masters then you can definitely go to RSM for undergrad and elsewhere for an MFIN. You will have no issues being competitive for internships with this background. You’re extremely young and already planning your career, take it easy and pick somewhere (within reason) you know you will enjoy and excel at, that is often more important that your Alma Mater.
Are you a Bocconi alum/student?
Nope, I just know that I can throw a stone across my trading floor and hit about 5 Bocconi alumni
I studied at both Bocconi and RSM and I can tell you Bocconi is undoubtedly better than RSM in terms of career opportunities, the courses and the knowledge you build thanks to them, and the fun component (Milan is much coller than Rotterdam).
Having said that, if you are not interested in pursuing a career in IB, and you want to go for a masters in the UK, I am not sure which university would be better. Both universities are strong in law and management and are recognized in the UK, but I believe RSM has a stronger management profile abroad than Bocconi (I could be wrong). It's also much easier to get good grades at RSM while having the time to properly prepare for the GMAT, which is also an important factor to consider if you want to go to the UK.
I tend to see Bocconi as way more finance oriented while RSM concentration is management/consulting. Nothing wrong just two different approaches to education.
