It's almost always a better option to pursue full-time work experience prior to pursuing an MBA.
Agreed. Non negotiable for any of the top business schools. Also, a big part of the MBA's value is in your ability to pivot into a new industry if necessary. Don't burn that pivot option before trying out an industry or two first. If anything, you apply to deferred admission programs like HBS 2+2.
I think there are very few cases, if any, where you are better off getting your MBA without having any work experience. I definitely recommend a minimum of two years, but preferably 4+ in my opinion.
