Taking the GMAT in the spring

When does everybody take the GMAT to get into b-school? This is sort of a noob question cause I havent looked into it really at all.

I'm going to have time this spring before work and feel like it would be best to take it soon since I have time and nothing better to do.

Thoughts?

Take it before you start your first job (this is coming from someone who took it two days ago after working for 3.5 years). The last thing you'll want to be doing is working a full time job, doing all sorts of extracurricular stuff, pulling together apps, and worrying about a damn test. Also, if you screw up, you can take a nice, multi-year break, and try again.

I'm taking it in a month or two and it's been extremely painful to study while also working long hours of late... if you have that much bandwidth definitely take it and give it your best shot.

Take it now in spring or when ever you have time "before you start working". Or you'll have to beat yourself up over it when you least want to be bothered with them. I took 2 months off from work (anyway I had planned to quit whether or not I got into B school ) for my GMAT and B school applications. You'll likely not have the energy to prep during a full time job.
