Target schools/background for HL MPLS

Interested to hear what the target recruiting schools are for HL's RX and industrials groups in Minnesota. My three guesses would be that it is either in-line with NYC targets, More selective state schools (Umich, IU kelly), or more local (e.g. Wisconsin School of Business, U of M Carlson, Carleton, maybe St. Thomas). Also interested for any color on exits and the RX group in particular.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Houlihan Lokey's recruiting approach for its Minneapolis office, particularly for RX and industrials groups, likely aligns with a mix of regional and target schools. Here's a breakdown:

  1. Regional Focus: Schools like the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management, Wisconsin School of Business, and Carleton College are strong contenders due to their proximity and reputation in the Midwest.

  2. Selective State Schools: Institutions such as the University of Michigan (Ross) and Indiana University (Kelley) are often mentioned as strong feeders for finance roles, including HL's RX and industrials groups.

  3. Local Private Schools: Schools like the University of St. Thomas may also play a role in the recruiting pipeline, given their local presence and business programs.

For exits and the RX group, HL RX is highly regarded in the industry. While it is sometimes perceived as a creditor-focused shop, it also handles smaller debtor mandates. The group is decentralized, meaning deal flow and experiences can vary by office. However, HL RX analysts are known to have strong exit opportunities, particularly into credit/distressed buy-side roles.

Late response. They care heavily about Minnesota fit and only want people with ties to Minnesota. People who lived in Mn or go to UMN. Most people are from Notre Dame, UW Madison or Carlson. You probubly arleady know this by know tho lol
