Tell the truth or not?

Many bschools ask you where else are you applying for. Do you guys tell them the truth? For example, when I am applying for Stern, should I tell them I will also apply for Harvard & Wharton? (Keypoint: Harvard & Wharton are better than Stern both....)

The IVYs, from what I heard, communicate with each other. I think the reason they're asking is to see their competition. I don't think it will negatively or positively affect an applicant.

applications for ivy undergrad often ask this. tbh, I always lied and put down a bunch of good but not "great" schools. My point was to show them that I was someone who is qualified to consider good schools, but they would easily be my top choice.

no of course they dont communicate. They're in competition with each other after all.

For Stern MBA, maybe put down... Carnegie Mellon Tepper, Emory Goiz-something, UVA-Darden

on the other hand I don't think B-Schools report yield like colleges (yield is a factor in US News rankings so they want to admit students that will pick them in return). If that's the case then it probably wouldn't matter.

BSchools do report yields somewhere... I am pretty sure about this.

However, a possible case is that when I am applying Stern, I am not sure whether I will apply for Harvard/Wharton as well and thus do not write down either one

So, I may put Fuqua and Tepper in my Stern application. For Harvard/Wharton, I just tell the truth.

Thanks everyone!
